The Belfast City Health & Wellbeing Project is a community-led, place-based initiative designed to improve health and wellbeing in areas most affected by the conflict. Using a trauma-informed, data-driven, and hyper-local approach, the project focuses on building protective factors for individuals while tackling the social causes of poor health outcomes. It brings together communities, health professionals, and public health providers in an integrated partnership, recognising the vital role of the voluntary and community sector in providing local knowledge, volunteering, and support. By working across four communities, the project aims to empower citizens, strengthen resilience, and foster recovery from the lasting impacts of the conflict. Through inclusive and collaborative practices, it will create sustainable change, build stronger connections across the city, and demonstrate a transformative way of delivering trauma-informed health and wellbeing services.
